Wedding at St. edmunds episcopal church
These photos were taken at the St. Edmunds Episcopal Church in San Marino, CA. Pictured above is a view of the church from the balcony. The inside of the the church has strong linear elements and colorful stained art windows. There is also a beautiful work of art at the far end of the church. I really like the lights and the pointed arches.
The photo above shows all the strong structural lines that are a part of the architecture. The photo next to it shows another room in the church. I think it was the kids nursery room and there was bold color everywhere. I found the groomsmen hanging out here while the bride arrived. The bold color suited them well as these guys were a lot of fun to photograph.
Next to the church there is a specific room for brides to get ready. I photographed the bride getting ready using mostly the ambient light created by the lightbulbs. There room also has a large window on the side that can be used for to bring in natural light.
During the ceremony I was allowed to move from the balcony to the lower floor but could not move to the front of the church. The photo above was taken using the 70-200mm f2.8 from the back of the church. Flash photography was also not allowed, but that is not uncommon.
St. Edmunds is an Episcopal church, which is Anglican Catholic. The ceremony was similar to that of a Roman Catholic. The Reverend George F. Woodward III was also one of the more charismatic ones I've seen. Following the ceremony, the wedding certificates were being signed by the best man. It was then that I noticed the bride looking away, and in front of her was a bible. There was something about the bible, the bride looking away, good posture, and the perspective created by the arches that made fall in love with this photo.
