Wedding portraits and reception At The california country club

These photos were taken at the California Country Club in Whittier, CA. The California Country Club is private country club an a popular choice among Southland golfers which offers a natural haven in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. It was built in the 1950's and the venue prides itself in the aesthetic natural beauty of their tree-lined fairways. The photo above is of the bride and groom during the portrait session in one of golf fields.

All of the portraits were taken prior to the reception. The California Country Club was great in providing us with a golf cart and driver to take us to the different fields to take photographs. It saved us from walking and becoming tired. The sky was overcast while we took the photos and created nice diffused lighting for the portraits. The bride and groom were really fun to photograph and they created many photo opportunities. I had to stay alert to ensure I didn't miss a shot.

During the portrait session I noticed that the flower girls were rolling down the hills and managed to take a series of shots with a telephoto lens. Fortunately they were doing this after we had taken group photos and it didn't matter (at least from my point of view) if they stained their dresses.

The reception room at the California Country Club has a clean design and large windows that let enough light in. The photo above of the reception, was taken using the 85mm f1.2 lens using ambient light. I continued to take advantage of the natural light until there wasn't enough sunlight left to properly light the scene. The other nice thing about the room is that it has golden light fixtures in the ceilings which when properly blurred look great in photographs.

The photo above is of the groom during the money dance. As you can see, the guests did a great job pinning money all over him. The California Country Club with its wide open golf fields is a great place for wedding photography. The large fields make it easy to isolate groups of people, like in the photo of the groomsmen above.
